THOMAS MERRELL
 

Minister Thomas “Tony” Merrell was born in Fort Valley Georgia but Raised in Brunswick Georgia. He is the 5th of 7 children. He attended the Glynn County school system where he met and later married his high school sweetheart of 40 years Mrs. Van Jones Merrell. Together they have 3 adult children who have blessed them with 9 grand children. As a hobby he loves fixing cars and drawing. He retired after 20 yrs, as owner and operator of Merrell’s auto service. He was also blessed to retire from a 2nd job of 10 yrs as an International Longshoremen. He was blessed to perform for several years as a member of the Ga Sea Island Singers. Because he loves auto mechanics, he would do it for the love of it. In spite of only a high school education he has volunteered his time at Gateway’s alcohol and drug unit, The Well’s homeless shelter and Kairos prison ministry. He loves giving attention to his vegetable garden but he enjoy’s sharing the harvest the most. He’s sang before thousands and sang for President Bush at the G-8 summit. He has grown spiritually from a brother to a deacon and now a dedicated minister. He believe’s his ministry calling is to preach The Word, intercede for others, sing God’s praises and work in the maintenance department. His favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 because that’s what he has to do all of his life; Trust God every step of the way and he has never let him down. His Holy Spirit has directed his path in life thus far. He is a happy man today because of his relationship with God and with his family.
